Amanda Lindhout spoke on "Freedom in Forgiveness" at the St. Boniface Cathedral, on September 18th., as part PEACE DAYS 2014.  In 2008, Amanda was kidnapped and held captive for 460 days in Somalia.  Her experience led her to discover that as long as she retained her ability to feel compassion, her humanity could never be taken from her.

To learn more about Amanda's experience, you can read her book, "A House in the Sky".  After her release from captivity in 2009, Amanda founded Global Enrichment Foundation (GEF) to ignite leadership in Somalia through education and economic initiatives. http://www.globalenrichmentfoundation.ca

Patricia Kumbakisaka was one of the volunteer organizers of the event.  The presentation was attended by several Rotarians from our Club.
